Practical and packed with information
This book is a wonderful resource for simple ways to save money on your landscape projects. I highly recommend it for all gardeners and landscapers. It's unlike other garden books that just show pretty pictures and give the same old generic information. This book gives you straightforward advice on how to plan your garden, propagate your own plants with minimal effort and recycle materials for mulch. Everything in this book is about economy of time and money.

Month-by-month Gardening In Wisconsin
Published in Paperback by Cool Springs Press (01 September, 2001)
Authors: Melinda Myers and A Thomas Nelson Company
Average review score:

Step-by-step garden guide with lots of great information
Book contains about 370 pages divided into 11 major sections. Sections are Annuals (29 pages), Bulbs (29 pages), Fruits (34 pages), Herbs and Vegetables (30 pages), Houseplants (30 pages), Lawns (26 pages), Perennials (30 pages), Roses (28 pages), Shrubs (32 pages), Trees (30 pages), and Vines & Groundcovers (30 pages).

What makes the book unique is that each section discusses the material for every month (hence the title, "month by month"). Each month contains about 2 pages of instructions for planning, planting, care, watering, fertilizer, pests, and pruning. Each section starts with several pages introducing the topic.

Example of Melinda Myers advice: Tree section (April), "Do not prune Oaks and Honeylocust once growth begins. Wait until the dormant season to avoid disease problems".

Oops, I wish I would have had this book earlier. I did prune my Oak in April a few years back, and I now have a disease problem.

Besides the great plant instructions, the books contains amazing maps of Wisconsin (page size maps with county names). Maps contain USDA Cold Hardiness, Annual Precipation, Average First Frost, and Average Last Frost. Also includes lists of crop dates, UW Extension Service addresses, dry tolerate perennials, and much much more.

This is an excellent wealth of plant tips for anyone gardening in Wisconsin. It's a must have book!

Motivating With Love: A Memoir
Published in Paperback by Brigham Young Univ Univ Pubns (May, 1991)
Author: Mary D. Nelson
Average review score:

Learning about French and Learning About Life
Madame Nelson, "la vielle dragonne" was my most memorable teacher. We all learned French--and a little bit more. She taught us to extend ourselves to others in a constructive and compassionate way---while we were preparing for our busy, college-bound, baby boomer lives. At the same time, she taught us the discipline that we all so sorely needed to succeed in life. "Trente Minutes Chaque Soir" (thirty minutes each night) is a good lesson about what it takes to succeed in any endeavor. This book is about that love, that vision, and about teaching that to others. Merci mille fois, Madame.

Charming and delightful!
This book is so sweet and full of inspiration. It takes all of those wonderful sayings that we have heard over and over again and gives them a little history and a lot of humor and sentiment. The illustrations are equally wonderful and bring the whole book together. I just love this book and would highly recomend it to a parent.
